About the Event

For the first workshop in this series we will experiment with bundle dyeing with locally foraged leaves on ethical hand loomed silk cloth. This is an exciting introduction to the alchemy of dyeing with plants, and we will be pressing the leaves onto the cloth and wrapping it into a bundle to be steamed. This process allows the colour from the leaf to create a permanent impression on the cloth, and creates beautiful and unique results using a variety of techniques.

The workshop will be split into two sessions, and you will create a basic eco-print in the first session, and then experiment with creating a print with a background colour for the second session. All materials will be provided and every participant will leave with two eco-printed silk pieces (each approximately 25cm x 1.1m).

We will have a break for dinner while the eco-print bundles steam and will share a simple vegan meal prepared by the very talented Soul Food Sisters (included in the price).

Each workshop is limited to 10 participants to comply with COVID guidelines on social distancing. As in a cafe environment, you will not be required to wear a mask while seated but will be expected to put on a mask when moving around (although very little moving around will be required).
